Since I'm going to introduce quite a number of food which I found pretty tasty and acceptable, perhaps I should start from the highest level down.
Level 3- Foodcourt
I believe that this foodcourt has always been famous with nearby secondary school kids for a quick lunch before heading home after school.
What caught my eye is actually a stall selling this!
Mushroom soup served on a bread bowl!
Disclaimer- I didn't buy this from Tiong Bahru Plaza, instead, I bought this from Tanglin Mall's foodcourt.
PRetty interesting right? I'm not sure how does this taste because I've yet to try it. However, the one that I've tried at tanglin mall is indeed not bad. However, it's good that you try to finish the soup fast before it makes the entire bowl really soft (as it's just made up of toasted bread- hence edible.) In the past I really love drinking soup that comes with puff pastry on the top (oven-backed) because I love to dip the pastry into the soup as I'm enjoying the tasty appetiser. There used to be a stall in the old Bugis Junction foodcourt selling that, but ever since the revamp, there goes the stall as well=( Country Mana in Great World isn't in existance as well. Hence, it has been a long time since I last ate that. At least for now, there's still another similar dish that is selling in Tiong Bahru to satisfy my cravings.

Level 2- Lao Bei Jing
Well, I can't exactly give a review on this because I've yet to give it a shot (due to a shortage of seats the other time round which me and my friends wanted to try).
Well, a picture says a thousand words. It's a high tea buffet and they serve up pretty decent food (ranging from xiao long baos to za jiang mian).
Anyone who has tried this can let me know how does it go?

Level 1- Teh Tarik Cartel.
This little indian shop is somewhat similar to Spize (which I've yet to give any review even though it serves up really GOOD pratas and it's signature Roti John Special due to the lack of pictures and I've actually introduced it enough on my original blog already).
Well, as the name suggests, this shop really sells VERY GOOD Ice Teh Tarik ($1.80)! They also sell quite a wide range of pratas and what caught my eye was the set of coin pratas (5 for the cost of $3)which are small little pratas, about the size of a regular coaster. The little cute pratas are really crispy on the outside, yet it has those dough type of feeling in the inside, so it isn't those really crispy ones that you find in The Prata House over at Upper Thomson Road and neither are they the "nua nua" types that you find on your house's table after leaving your prata there for hours upon buying them.
One pretty major drawback is that the food that they serve are pretty expensive, but yet it's 24 hours, so I guess it's good to give this place a shot if you're wandering around, again, in the middle of the night near Tiong.

Basement 1- four season durian (I'm unsure about the stall's name)
There's this shop, called four season something... *can't really remember already* and it sells up to 90% of durian products, ranging from durian puddings, crepe, pancake, cakes, swiss roll, puffs and even mochi! It's located opposite Polar (which sells puffs and pastries).
Initially I was pretty skeptical about the durian pancake because honestly speaking, I wouldn't try it if my mum didn't order an addtional one for me today as it totally doesn't look appetising.
And viola! My first mouth into this $1.50 delicacy made me hungry for more (of course I didn't order another one, I'm health conscious you know!) No pictures though (as my hands were full from shopping at NTUC) but I shall try to give a brief discription on it.
The pancake is made upon order, so it's really fresh and piping hot when it's done=) The durian paste that they wrap the pancake around it is freezing cold, so you're eating something that is hot and crispy on the outside, but yet soft and cold in the inside! What's special here is that they are not stingy with the amount of durian paste (which tasted really fresh and I could taste the fibres of the durian) that they give, so you'll be satisfied with the amount that you paid your $1.50 for. Thumbs up!

Opposite Tiong Bahru Plaza- Pastry shop selling Hong Kong pastries.
Patrons of Tiong Bahru Plaza should be familiar with the underground tunnel that leads to the opposite of the mall. Upon exiting, not only you'll be greeted by a bakery shop in front of you, but yet, what's more important is what goes beyond that simple bakery shop on the left. Keep walking left and you'll come across a shop that sells HK pastries at affordable prices! (About 90 cents per piece)!
What I've tried is the Wife's Biscuit (my all time favourite snack- which is pretty sinful as well). It's again, one of the BEST one that I've ever tasted for the price of 90 cents! *okie you can exclude the price part*. What I really love about the pastry is the really THICK filling that is really soft and chewy once you bite on to this wonderful treat! Plus, the skin isn't those thick thick types to trick you into thinking that the pastry is filled with fillings. Instead, the skin is just thick enough to hold the pastry firm, it's also crispy and still rather warm to the touch when I bought it at night (so I guess they prepared it freshly at regular intervals!) at about 8pm plus.
Deserves a 4.75/5!
Another delightful treat is their chicken sausage bo luo bun! Bo luo bun is a nice bun treat which is crispy on the top but yet very soft in the inside! Plus, their chicken sausage tasted really good- it's chewy but yet NOT at all oily, and the taste really blended with the bun! Certainly also deserved a 4.5/5!
I can't wait to try out their other pastries such as mushroom chicken pie, tau sa pastries, etc. the next time I'm there!

Can't believe Tiong Bahru Plaza and the area around it has so much things to explore! Don't ever look down on heartland malls!
